every page or file on your web site visible to the
public. LockOut ensures that only certain people with
a proper user name and password have access to pages with
sensitive content.
An
administration utility allows you to create individual
accounts and set access levels for restricted
directories. Access can also be granted to users via
an automated process through a 'sign up' form if you do not
wish to manually audit each password request.
LockOut
offers many useful features for most any site:
- Passwords
are stored as encrypted files in the database to promote
maximum security.
- If a user
forgets his/her password, it can automatically be
e-mailed to them.
- You select
which directories each individual has (or doesn't have)
access to.
- Password
accounts can be added, deleted, or modified at any time
via the admin utility.
- For extra
protection, the password can be delivered from client to
server via SSL to prevent "packet sniffers" or
hackers from gaining access.
- A usage
log monitors all log-in and log-out activity for your
viewing in the admin interface.
- Password
accounts can be set to expire - fostering an e-commerce
revenue model for certain applications.
- Simultaneous
log-in with the same password by 2 or more users will
automatically suspend the account to prevent 'password
sharing' and system abuse.
